As with all posts I have made on Geek Speak, I have to say that I am not a programming pro etc etc etc

So here's the problem.... I'm trying to get a website online, but am using a different hosting co. - I usually use One.com, but am now using surftown.com. On One.com, the homepage is recognised as index.html, unless otherwise stated on the sitemap. When I upload the website using surftown, I just get this:

http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/7739/asassiterd8.th.png

If you click on one of the pages it takes you in to the website and it all works, but how do I get surftown to recognise the homepage and open on that (I have called it Index.html)

Any help much appreciated

Kozo, this was my first thought - and a quick check on surftown brought their paragraph about it:

Maybe your files have not been uploaded to the right folder. You MUST apply the folder which name is identical with your domain name, and you must overwrite the existing index.html file.
Moreover, you must rename index.htm files to index.html written in small letters.

You must overwrite their existing index.html file.

Is it possible that *your* index.html file hasn't uploaded/overwritten theirs?

Bingo!

I had named the homepage Index.html rather than index.html....

Kozo's knowledge of programming increases....

Many thanks!

Ayup, while you can specify in *nix whether to be caps sensitive or not, it's a good idea to stick with lowercase.
Windows servers aren't as picky, but if you ever migrate - trust me on this...

Rev - who built an Apache, then IIS, then Apache, then IIS, then.... ad nauseum
