Any home brew recipes? I have used special wipes that never really did the job so well. What do you use to clean your laptop screen?

When they get so dirty that they irritate me, I throw the things away and go buy a new one.

i found licking the offending spot and rubbing with tissue works well.

Okay, you inspired me to clean my laptop screen (which I just did). I used a microfiber cloth (Scotchbrite) and a diluted dishsoap/water combination. I wet the corner of the rag with the soap and another with plain water.

There were a few streaks after I dried it, however, if you just breath on it and buff it out section by section. I think the moisture level is just right since it disappears quickly.

PLastic safe eyeglass cleaners typically work. Make sure you don't use fibrous cloth (papertowel/TP etc) as it might scratch the screen. I've used Windex successfully too, but try it in an inconspicous spot first, or on coworkers laptop screen first to make sure it doesn't harm it.

Windex actually damages slick surfaces - I wouldn't use it if I were you. It's best for glass.

Thanks Mouse, all clean. :p:

Actually, I think I'll try the microfiber.

I agree, a microfibre cloth is the best thing I've found for cleaning both the laptop and plasma screens around the house. I always use it dry, no chemicals - nothing, although damp is meant to best for those hard to remove marks. Shifts most marks and dust in one go.

I find that simply sticking the whole thing in the dishwasher works wonders.

Thanks for the heads up. I could've sworn that the screen is glass, or that there is a glass cover over the actual screen. It's a very glarefree screen though, I should find out.

Laptops and LCD monitors don't have glass, I don't think. Just push on it gently with your finger - you'll smush the image. Besides, a laptop is semi-portable and glass is too delicate.

FYI, I tried cleaning my fridge with Windex and it lost it's shine. Rather, I can see where I went round and round with it. Not a good sign.

Now I have to find out what they put on the sony, it's a pretty stiff screen, unlike the soft plastic whatnot on the Dells. Hmm.

Stop the interactive porn surfing with your laptop and it might not be a problem in the future.

So just dampen it, or? My screen needs more than a dry rubdown!
